LETTERS TO IRAN

Vet to Vet letters of peace

We want to carry the message of peace from US veterans to Iranian veterans.  While most of our veterans come from the Vietnam war, widely seen as a failed occupation, most Iran veterans come from the 10 year war with Iraq which is seen as a war of defense. But there is still common ground for letters of peace between our nations and a world of peace from our veterans to their veterans.  We are looking for help and suggestions for gathering these letters.

Letters of peace from US children to Iranian children

We would like to carry messages of peace from US children to Iranian children. We would like help getting letters and gathering them together.

Christian to Muslim letters of peace

We want to carry letters of peace across both religious and political lines -- peace messages from US Christians to Iranian Muslims or, US Muslims to Iranian Christians or Zoroastrians, for example.  We are looking for people who can help us gather letters and make this happen.

  1. Will, Unfortunately I am unable at this time to either go as a delegate or contribute financially. I am very interested in gathering letters from children to children and writing a vet to vet letter.

I would be very interested in future delegations and as a veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm I know how crucial it is that we repair our relations in with the Arab nations. I would like to do whatever I can to help VFP attain these goals.

  2. below is an email notice i sent to my fellow teachers. use and feel free to modify it for your local school:

if you are looking for something outside the curriculum that engages both social/political critical thinking and writing/coorespondance, Veterans For Peace is looking for letters from american children to send to Iran. despite you view of the socio-political US-Iran issue, VFP want to send a message to Iranian veterans (comprised mostly of men who faught for defense against Iraq who was supported by the US during most of the 80's) as well as a message from american children to iranian children that peace not war is our demand.
